we love seeing cartoonists whose indie comics we sold here at Fantom, go on to publish major graphic novels! Adeline Kon first got on our radar with their queer horror comic My Father Was a Good Man, and now Penguin is publishing their debut graphic novel JUST BETWEEN US—a sapphic figure skating story about love, talent, and the Olympic dream.
to celebrate, we're hosting an author talk & signing, in conversation with artist/Fantom friend Laura Rovinsky!!
"Lydia Chen knows how good she is on the ice. Technically perfect, she's been the one to beat since her debut years ago. Except now, between the constant training, appealing to sponsors to fund her, and the pressure to perform, Lydia's passion for skating has disappeared.
When her rival Elaine Yee starts training at the same rink, Lydia's struck by the emotion in Elaine's routines and unwillingly finds herself getting closer to her as they compete for a medal at the Olympics. As the tension between them comes to a head, Lydia has to figure out what she wants before it skates right past her."
Adeline Kon is a lesbian cartoonist and designer from Miami, Florida. They are passionate about creating messy, queer romances about women and love watching competitive figure skating.
They are the co-creator of Glimm*r Magazine, a sapphic comic anthology series they put together with fellow cartoonist Kimberly Wang—whose book launch at Fantom immediately follows Adeline's event on the 15th! hope to see you at both
