Join us for two special screenings celebrating the work of one of Japan's master filmmakers, Hayao Miyazaki. His distinctive vision of nature portrays it as a profound, spiritual, living system—brought to life through lush, intricately detailed landscapes that are at once breathtakingly beautiful and fiercely powerful.
As a part of this year's Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital (DCEFF), we will be showing Ponyo and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind at the AFI Silver Theatre.
At 11:00 AM, join us for a screening of Ponyo. A whimsical film centered on the relationship between a young boy and a magical ocean being. Beneath its charming exterior lies a powerful reminder of the ocean's untamable spirit and the delicate balance between humanity and the deep blue. We especially encourage children to experience this magical film!
At 2:00 PM, join us for a screening of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Adapted from a manga of the same name penned by Miyazaki, the author's engagement with environmental themes begin here. The film follows a warrior princess swept into adventure in a world with fungal wilderness and giant insects that protect it.
Don't miss the chance to see these two iconic films on the big screen! (Both dubbed in English)
