Manga historian, scholar, and translator Ryan Holmberg sits down with musician, artist, and translator Anne Ishii for a conversation about translation! The two discuss Ishii's work translating Gengoroh Tagame's gay erotic manga for American audiences, general workflows, working with mangaka, and translating Japanese. This conversation was recorded at Fantom Comics ( ‪@FantomComicsHQ‬) in Washington, DC, on July 11, 2026, as part of Tagame's latest release, Fish and Water, published by Pantheon Graphic Library. Order Fish and Water by Gengoroh Tagame, translated by Anne Ishii https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/bo... I'd love to document more of these conversations and help make them accessible to readers everywhere. So, if you dig this video please give it a like, let us know in the comments, and tell us what else you'd like to see.

David Miller's "President Frankenstein" on YouTube

"I am "syndicating" my comic strip "President Frankenstein" on YouTube," David Miller's note to me today made me wonder if anyone else is distributing a non-animated comic strip via YouTube. Here's the description:

Greetings, All! Hey, are you as tired as I am of being brought down by the constant political discourse? If so, then welcome to President Frankenstein and the Monster Majority! In this new humor/horror comic strip we laugh at the political process. Because the political process is pretty laughable. In President Frankenstein all the world leaders are famous monsters. We have President Frankenstein of the US. President Dracula of Italy. President Wolfman of Russia. President Amen Hotep of Egypt. And many more you'll get to meet in President Frankenstein!

You can control the speed of this Daily comic strip with the youtube playback controls, making it an interactive experience. We hope you'll like President Frankenstein and will like, share and subscribe. Please let me know what you think of President Frankenstein in the comments.
