Everything in Color with Stephanie Stalvey & Sarah McCammon!

ABOUT THE BOOK

"In her luminous debut, Stalvey meditates on her separation from fundamentalist Christianity and how she found love despite questioning her faith. " —Publishers Weekly, starred review

Interrogating her own upbringing in an evangelical community, Stephanie Stalvey weaves a story of faith, alienation, romance and acceptance, in this beautifully painted graphic memoir.

Stephanie grew up in an evangelical community where love and obedience were overlapping themes. In this world, sin was inevitable, her body was a temptation, and desire was dangerous. Her own thoughts could not be trusted, because she was only saved if she believed the "right things" about God.

But as she grew, built a life of her own, and fell in love with a young seminarian named James, the complexities of the human experience became impossible to ignore. Was God truly so exacting and judgmental? Could faith exist beyond these rigid borders? Could love be both passionate and pure? Her connection to James—honest, caring and sensual—became a safe place for her worldview to expand. And when their son was born, she understood love in a whole new way… suddenly, everything was sacred, everything was in color.

Through striking prose and beautiful mixed media illustrations, Stalvey takes us on an emotional journey of faith, romance, motherhood and loss. With tenderness and honesty, she unravels the fear and guilt woven into her past, reclaims her sense of self, and shows us how to embrace a love that is healing, transformative, and wholly one's own.

Navy medicine cartoons by Coleman Anderson of Dick Tracy

Do's And Dont's - Coleman Anderson
Hospital Corps Quarterly March 1946 p. 21-23

This series of reproductions of 12 posters used in the Hospital Carps School for WAVES at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., was prepared by Coleman Anderson, PhM2c.

The art section of the Naval Medical School produced during the war thousands of posters, drawings, and lay-outs which aided in the training and education of Navy and Marine Corps personnel. This particular series emphasizes to students the necessity for being ever vigilant while administering medicines.

Coleman Anderson is now back in his prewar billet in Chicago, With Chester Gould, he is thinking up and drawing situations for Dick Tracy to get in and out of. More Prunefaces, Flattops, Gravel Gerties, Itchys, and B. O. Plentys will be born as villains in Tracy's never ending fight to prove that crime does not pay.

NY Times on BTS, Korean music, and Howard University for new animated video

BTS Fans Revisit Howard University History From 1896

A version of this article appears in print on March 31, 2026, Section C, Page 4 of the New York edition with the headline: K-Pop's Ties to Howard University.

In promoting its new album, the K-pop superstars looked back to a late-19th-century moment featuring the unofficial anthem "Arirang" for inspiration.

Baltimore Comic-Con Ringo awards have a local judge (or 2)

Introducing the 2026 Ringo Awards Jury

It's a good list of people, and I'm sure it always is, but this year I'm paying attention because my LCS is represented:

Sarahti Gassmalla

Sarahti Gassmalla has about a decade of working in comics retail. Starting as an intern, she is now a part owner and co-manager at Fantom Comics. She is involved in inventory ordering, event coordination, and representing the store at events such as Baltimore Comic-Con, ComicsPro, New York Comic-Con, and Small Press Expo. She runs the Fantom Comics' recurring Queer Book Club, occasionally interviews creators for author events, and manages the weekly Final Order Cutoff.

Her relationship with sequential art began at a young age as a regular reader of Pearls Before Swine, Mutts, and other Washington Post Sunday comic strips. These days, reading the "Sunday comics" means reading the newest chapter updates of her favorite Shonen Jump titles -- Akane Banashi, Blue Box, Ichi The Witch, and One Piece to name just a few. Her western comics journey started with reading the original Runaways at the library and borrowing a friend's copy of Young Avengers. Visiting Fantom Comics the first time before she worked there is what introduced her to single issue comics, collecting titles like 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, Joyride, and Monstress. If she is not reading, she's doodling, finding new ways to get at least ten friends in a room together, or binging crime thriller TV. Sarahti was born and raised in Washington, DC where she still resides.

Colleen Doran is somewhere in northern Virginia, because she's in the DC chapter of the National Cartoonist Society with me. But she's a real cartoonist - I just pay to hang around with them.
Colleen Doran

Colleen Doran is a New York Times bestselling cartoonist. From her first work with on The Sandman, she also adapted the short stories Troll Bridge, Snow Glass Apples, and Chivalry, winning two Eisners, The Bram Stoker, Locus, and Ringo Awards, and nominations for Best Penciler/Inker Eisners, Reubens, the Excelsior, Rondo, and Tripwire Awards.
