That darn Edith Pritchett

Regarding Skip Strobel's Oct. 12 Free for All letter, "Light papers and heavy hearts":

The Post and coffee have been part of our morning routine for decades, along with another paper to give us a different spin on the news. But The Post is flailing, and its struggles are apparent. It is much thinner. There is no Sunday Magazine. In a misguided attempt to appeal to millennials, irrelevant Edith Pritchett cartoons are taking up valuable space on Opinions pages; she belongs in the Style section or the Comics. In too many instances, editorial biases are not held in check but found front page to back. There is no break, no enjoyment left. Politics infuses everything, from food to fashion to comics. The Post has become personality-driven, and there's a mean streak running through it.

Some change is inevitable, and embracing it is necessary, but new isn't always better, and a catchy slogan isn't a substitute for substance.
