COMIC Review

Saga

This is a Romeo and Juliet/Sci-Fi/Star Wars/Fantasy!

Ok, I know that sounds confusing.  But this comic is set in a Star Wars-like world with a war going on in the background.  It starts with the birth of a baby amidst the fact that the mom and dad are wanted criminals.

saga

This first issue can be a little confusing though because they are introducing all of the characters and the worlds involved.  I would assume that as the issues go on everything will come into perspective.

Brian Vaughn, the artist, is known for Y the Last Man.  Fiona Staples, the writer, does a great job in that while the story is being told there is some background text that is from the baby's perspective.

I personally do not normally like Sci-Fi comics but I will continue to reading this series because of the character development that the first issue brought.

I would recommend this comic!

Lastly, this comic is for mature readers as it does contain adult language and nudity.-----Louis

Thank you so much for your support of our new comic and game shop.  We look forward to taking care of all of your comic and game needs.

Peter Panzerfaust Signing with Kurtis J. Wiebe and Tyler Jenkins

Kurtis J. Wiebe and Tyler Jenkins sign at Third Eye Comics on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Press Release:

Kurtis J. Wiebe (writer of GREEN WAKE and the INTREPIDS) and TYLER JENKINS (Snow Angel) will be joining us on 3/17 for a very special in-store Third Eye signing and launch event of their brand new IMAGE series PETER PANZERFAUST.

This kick-ass new IMAGE title tells the tale of Peter, a young, mysterious boy from America who, alongside the Lost Boys of Paris, goes up against the Nazi forces of a very familiar-looking hook-handed Nazi commander.

Brad Meltzer, Heroes For My Daughter signing

Brad Meltzer signs at Barnes & Noble on Thursday April 12, 2012 at 7:00 PM.

About this Author
Brad Meltzer is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Fate, as well as the bestsellers The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires, The Zero Game, and The Book of Lies.

He is also one of the co-creators of the TV Show, “Jack & Bobby” and is the Eisner Award-winning author of the critically acclaimed comic book, Justice League of America.

His first non-fiction book, Heroes for My Son, is a collection of heroes from Jim Henson to Rosa Parks that he’d been working on since the day his son was born. This December, he’ll be launching “Brad Meltzer’s Decoded” on the History Channel.

Raised in Brooklyn and Miami, Brad is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia Law School. The Tenth Justice was his first published work and became an instant New York Times bestseller. Dead Even followed a year later and also hit the New York Times bestseller list, as have all six of his novels. The First Counsel came next, which is about a White House lawyer dating the President’s daughter; then The Millionaires, which is about two brothers who steal money and go on the run. The Zero Game is about two Congressional staffers who are literally gambling on Congress. The Book of Fate is about a young Presidential aide, a crazed assassin, and the 200-year-old code created by Thomas Jefferson that times them together. For authenticity, The Book of Fate was researched with the help of two former Presidents, Clinton and Bush. His last book, The Book of Lies, is about the missing murder weapon that Cain used to kill Abel, as well as the unsolved murder of Superman creator Jerry Siegel’s father. Brad is one of the only people to interview Jerry Siegel’s family about the murder and, with his charitable site, OrdinaryPeopleChangeTheWorld.com, has been the driving force behind the movement to repair the house where Superman was created.

His books have spent over ten months on the bestseller lists, and have been translated into over 25 languages, from Hebrew to Bulgarian. In The Tenth Justice, the opening lines are: “Ben Addison was sweating. Like a pig.” In the Hebrew translation, it became: “Ben Addison was sweating. Like a horse.” We’re not sure if it’s a Kosher thing or what!

Brad has played himself as an extra in Woody Allen’s “Celebrity,” co-wrote the swearing-in oath for AmeriCorps, the national service program, and earned credit from Columbia Law School for writing his first book, which became The Tenth Justice. Before all of that, he got 24 rejection letters for his true first novel, which still sits on his shelf, published by Kinko’s.

Brad currently lives in Florida with his wife, who’s also an attorney.

Comic Riffs on Doonesbury's wading into ridiculous abortion laws

ComicsDC is a product of Northern Virginia, which is currently experiencing similar legislative intrusions and depriving people of what the United Nation's Charter of Human Rights calls the Right to Life, Liberty and Security of Person. Virginia used to have a good idea, 140 years ago, what these rights meant.

Where have you gone, Nate Beeler?

Tom Spurgeon scooped me again by reporting that Nate Beeler is moving back to Columbus. I'll miss Nate's work - he's the main reason I pick up the Examiner since they dropped their 3 pages of comics. I've been tear-sheeting his cartoons and sending them to the comics libraries at Michigan and Ohio State Universities too.

Here's the main story:
