AP is reporting that the great Mad Magazine editor Al Feldstein has passed away. I knew him slightly. He used to send seriously leftist emails to people he knew. I will set about saving them for a the Billy Ireland Library at Ohio State.
That's Craig Fischer, Richard Thompson, Roger Langridge and Al.

Cartoonists and others at Baltimore Comic Con.
The Con is the busiest and biggest that I've ever seen and continues through today. Labels to come later, but the name of the person is in the file name.

Roger Langridge's The Shadow sketch
A late holdover from SPX 2010 - this great sketch Roger Langridge did for me. I just figured out how to use my new scanner/printer/copier/changing table.

Dustin Harbin draws me in a comic strip
My buddy Dustin Harbin drew me (and Richard Thompson and Roger Langridge) in a comic strip about a meal at SPX - how cool is that?

Bruce Guthrie's Small Press Expo photos
Bruce has two pages of pictures up - one from panels and one from the floor. When you go to one of his pages, the little pencil icon under the picture lets you create a caption for the image. Some caption fairies would be helpful, because Bruce doesn't do that - he's too busy taking more pictures.
That's is the great New Zealand expat Roger Langridge being interviewed.
And this is Kate Beaton and Julia Wertz on Dustin Harbin's panel blowing attendance for my counter-programmed one out of the water.
But we looked gooood.
Me, Richard Thompson, Marguerite Dabaie and Keith Knight.
Oooh, and Spurgeon linked to a video of Dean Haspiel's shirtless SPX moment.
And Dirk Deppey pointed out Brian Heater's con report. I love the Daily Cross Hatch and have never managed to run into Brian at the show.

Weldon likes Langridge and Samnee's Thor
And so do I! I believe it's the only Marvel superhero book I'm buying, purely because Roger's writing it.

Roger Langridge's Barney Google sketch
Roger Langridge did this drawing for me last weekend - I knew he was a big Barney Google fan so I asked him for this at Heroes Con. I also bought two pages of an X-Men story in the style of Edward Gorey from him which are very cool. Professor X was a spooky kid.

Weldon on Langridge's Muppets
Nice review here. I bought the individual issues and the collection because 1. Roger's a buddy of mine, and 2. he's good. I also buy original art from him whenever he's in the States.

OT: Roger Langridge interview
Friend of ComicsDC Roger Langridge is interviewed at "Panel Borders: Muppets, giant cuboid roosters and other weird creatures!" by Alex Fitch, May 7, 2009. Roger's a great cartoonist who's latest Marvel Fing Fang Foom comic came out this week. He'll be at Heroes Con this year with ridiculously underpriced original art - I've got mine!

OT: Langridge in Act-i-vate webcomix
Jim Dougan wrote in today: You may have seen this already, but as a fellow Langridge fan, and the local DC representative of webcomix collective ACT-I-VATE, you might want to know that he's joined up and will be dazzling us all with the new adventures of MUGWHUMP THE GREAT:

Roger talks about it at his blog here:

Thanks for the tip, Jim! Sure, Roger's from New Zealand and lives in England, but DC's a state of mind, right? Unfortunately he won't be at SPX this year since he did HeroesCon earlier this year.

Our Man Thompson goes MAD
Thought Balloonist Craig Fischer is reporting that he'll be moderating a panel "A Chat with Al Feldstein (and Friends)," with Al Feldstein, Roger Langridge* and Richard Thompson at Heroes Con on Saturday, June 21 at 4 pm. Hoo-hah! I'm there!
*when I saw Roger at SPX last year, I bought 3 pages of original art from him. Richard was no use at all making the selection so I just bought them all. I'd encourage you to do the same from both of them. You won't regret it. Well, not for long.
