July 18: R Sikoryak at Atomic Books this Saturday!

From Drawn & Quarterly

Hello DC and Baltimore area friends!

I am reaching out because we have the wonderful cartoonist R Sikoryak launching DECLARATION / EMANCIPATION ILLUSTRATED at Atomic Books in Baltimore this Saturday, in just a few days' time. I hope you'll consider attending.

Sikoryak is a Raw cartoonist and Parsons instructor perhaps best known for adapting the iTunes Terms and Conditions agreement into comics form.

In his latest book, Sikoryak tackles the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation, word for word. Each page references a different American comic from over 200 years of cartooning history (from the Lion King to Superman to Peter Bagge's HATE), and is deftly chosen to illuminate something about these much-debated documents. Sikoryak will discuss his process and offer insights into the texts.

The whole thing kicks off at 6 pm on Saturday the 18th at 3620 Falls Rd. Baltimore, MD 21211, and is free and open to the public.

Thanks for considering!

All best,

Julia
