Post on Obama as Joker latest tempest in teapot

The August doldrums have struck, so a poster of President Obama overlayed with The Dark Knight's Joker's makeup has become 'news. "The Beat" had a long list of comments on this poster. Paul Pope had an exhaustive commentary that I didn't even really understand--it sounded exquisite, though!

I saw Pope speak at Ohio State's triannual convention a couple of years ago, and he was so thoughtful and articulate that I instantly became a convert to his work and bought the Adhouse Books retrospective (which I highly recommend). I got the chance to chat with him in the hall, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy who loves comic art.

He's going to be doing some more work for Marvel - Tom Spurgeon's got the story at Comics Reporter.
