No 'Cathy' retirement bump for 'Cul de Sac'?
I've been reading a lot of articles about papers replacing Cathy, and what they're choosing and haven't seen anyone add Cul de Sac yet. Does anyone know of a paper that's added it?
Stone Soup seems to have picked up a few. Rhymes with Orange, Red and Rover, Tundra, Arlo and Janis, nothing, and the new Dogs of C-Kennel are some replacements I've seen.

Spurgeon, among others, urges Cul de Sac replace Cathy
Cathy Guisewite is retirng her strip Cathy. I've seen this comment more than once now, and here's Tom Spurgeon articulating it the best:
I urge every paper that is looking for a replacement to consider Cul-De-Sac. I think it's the finest strip going with a client list short of where it should be, but it really needs to sit in your paper for a while to have the best chance for people to pick up on its rhythms. It's not the kind of strip that benefits from replacing something that's been running and that has fans that could demand its return.

True Blood comic mention in Post
There's a brief wire story in the Post today saying that the True Blood books and tv show will have a comic book based on them. There's actually a long tradition of this in comics, with some series lasting beyond the show.
Also in the Style section is a strange Cul de Sac comic on evolution.

Wondermark's David Malki likes Cul de Sac too
Richard's fan club is growing today, after a Facebook post by Chris "Crogan's Vengeance" Schweizer and now David "Wondermark" Malki's blogging about it. You have to love Malki's opinion "Despite running in newspapers, this is a great comic strip."
Perhaps coincidentally, Richard sat next to both of them at HeroesCon and they may have been infected by his meme.

Comics historian Craig Yoe says, "There is some hope [for comic strips], with Patrick McDonnell’s “Mutts” and Richard Thompson’s “Cul de Sac” and a couple of others. We need more strips like that!"

Cul de Sac like "an anchor" says Comic Reporter readers
Tom Spurgeon often asks a Friday question of readers of his excellent The Comics Reporter blog (the only one I read 'cover to cover' although Journalista is a close second), and this past week he asked which five comic strips should be used to anchor a comic strip section. Many answered 'Cul de Sac' although there was a surprise 'Barney and Clyde' vote - a surprise since the strip didn't start until 3 days after the poll.

Comic Riffs pushes Cul de Sac to sell out
Cavna thinks it should be an animated tv series based on the new RingTales shorts.
The comments quickly turned surly due to the Post's iffy record of running the Sunday strip haphazardly, as well as not updating the e-version. Our Man Thompson also chimed in with his opinion, for what that is worth.
