Comicsgirl has written up last night's "Mr. Mendoza's Paintbrush/Trickster event at Busboys & Poets • 03.30.11". I was quite taken with Christopher Cardinale's talk about how he visited Mexico and photographed the scenes that the author had described in his short story.
Editor Matt Dembicki also pointed out this blog post on Trickster that talks about how Peter Kuper did the initial cover for the book

Comicsgirl covers Bertozzi and Little signing
Comicsgirl covered the Big Planet Nick Bertozzi and Jason Little signing on her blog - I should give her this site since I didn't report on either that or the Kill Shakespeare event.
And she also talks about her first comic - X-Factor of all things.

Kill Shakespeare photos from Folger Library
The Kill Shakespeare website has photos of the writer's talk at the Folger Library last month. They also give a link to Comicsgirl's summation of the evening. And she interviewed them too.

Comicsgirl reviews Party Crashers exhibit
Comicsgirl reviews Arlington's Party Crashers exhibit - I saw the exhibit briefly last Friday on opening night. Anyone want to try to go together? I think it's a show that talking through with others would be interesting.
Also, there's a nice catalogue for only $5.

Comicsgirl's report on the Graphic Content panel
I finally got to meet Comicsgirl who blogs about comics around DC too. She put up a good report on today's Graphic Content panel so I don't have to. Whew. Bobbie of the DC Library recorded the event and will have a podcast of it up at some point. I think it was a good event and I appreciate her setting it up and asking me to help. Being off to one side of downtown, it was somewhat underattended, but I think the online audio will be of interest since we had a nice range of cartoonists. I took a couple of pictures afterwards and I'll try to get them up tomorrow.

ACT-I-VATE signing report by comicsgirl
Comicsgirl has a good report on the ACT-I-VATE guys at Politics and Prose up now, so I'm just going to refer you to her site. The only thing I would add is that you can buy a cd recording of the event from the store if you want to hold her picture up and pretend you were there. This may be historically important at some point, like being able to claim you were at the Constitutional Convention.
I took a few snaps too, and when I pull them off the camera, I'll post them here if they're any good.
If anyone local is reading this, P&P has some good remaindered comic-type books. Plenty of copies of Hajdu's 10-Cent Plague, 1 copy of Art Spiegelman: Conversations by my friend Rusty Witek for $5, 1 copy of Stan Lee: Conversations for $5, a bunch of Tomine, and one of the odd Spirit pop-up comics. And the Barnes & Noble on Rte 50 in Fairfax has the Moby Dick pop-up comic while I'm thinking about it.

Comicsgirl interviews with Jo Chen, Laura Martin and Tonya Kay
I just realized I hadn't been reading Comicsgirl this fall (sorry!), so I ran back through her blog until summer. Here's 3 other good interviews she's done:
Five questions with Tonya Kay, Monday, 19 October 2009 - with 'superhero' reality show star.
Five questions with Laura Martin, Thursday, 8 October 2009 - with one of the best colorists in the business.
Five questions with Jo Chen, Thursday, 1 October 2009 - with our local comics cover painter.

Comicsgirl interviewed DC Ass't editor who's also ... a woman!
I missed this earlier, but it's still good - Comicsgirl interviewed a DC Ass't editor in "Five Questions with Janelle Siegel," Tuesday, 24 November 2009.
