April 8: Swann Lecture at Library of Congress

The Swann Lecture is given by graduate students funded by the Library of Congress who are researching caricature and cartoon in any field.

Swann Fellow Hyun Kong, a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature and Asian Studies at Pennsylvania State University, draws upon U.S. military newspapers, comics, posters, and visual materials from the Korean War era to reflect on how archival research can illuminate everyday military life and media practices and how archives organize meaning through repetition, circulation, and context. This event will be recorded.

Dining Room A is on the 6th floor in the “yellow” corner of the Madison Building. Entrance to the Madison Building is via Independence Avenue between 1st and 2nd streets SE. The cafeteria is nearby.

I’ve attached the flyer, and here is the link to the event: Swann Lecture: From Allegory to Archive: Mobility, Familiarity and U.S. Military Media in Korea | Library of Congress.
