comics writers/artists Nate Powell, Andrew Aydin and Dalia Ziada. Aydin and
Powell teamed for March (Top Shelf Productions), an upcoming graphic novel depicting the civil and human
rights efforts of U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), who co-authored the book. Ziada has
translated The The Montgomery
Story, the 1956 comic book about Martin Luther King

Mensa meeting theme: superheroes
Metropolitan Washington Mensa is holding its annual regional gathering this weekend in Herndon, Va., and the theme is superheroes! Festivities kick off Friday, May 17, with a presentation by Matt and Carol Dembicki on District Comics: An Uncoventional History of Washington, D,C., followed by Jamie Noguchi, who will talk about Asian-American representation in superhero comics. Saturday will feature caricaturist Nick Sider, a presentation by Georgia Higley on the Library of Congress' comics collection, and keynote by Ryan Davidson, one of the lawyers behind the book The Law of Superheroes and the blog Law and the Multiverse. (The event is open only to Mensa members and not to the public.)
