Reason on the Danish Islam cartoons controversy again
I don't link to Reason often enough, although they're based in DC, because I think of them as a nationwide publication (as do they, I'm sure). Here's an editorial of interest -

Reason Magazine sort of recommends government comics library site
The local libertarian chaps at Reason Magazine have noted the digital library of government educational comics at the University of Nebraska - check out Hey Citizens! Comics! by Brian Doherty from the January 2010 issue.

Peter Bagge strips from DC's Reason magazine collected
Peter Bagge's strips from DC's Reason magazine have been collected, I like these strips a lot - they're mostly cartoon journalism. Bagge spoke at Reason about 2 years ago and I went to their Dupont Circle location and enjoyed the talk.
The book, which I bought this week, is: Everybody Is Stupid Except for Me and Other Astute Observations, Peter Bagge, Fantagraphics, softcover, 120 pages, 9781606991589 (ISBN13), 2009, $16.99.
For a good interview, see Tom Spurgeon, "CR Sunday Interview: Peter Bagge," Comics Reporter (July 12 2009)

Reason reviews Little Orphan Annie
See "Yesterday Is Tomorrow: Revisiting Annie as a new New Deal dawns," by Brian Doherty, Reason May 2009. IDW is doing an excellent job reprinting the strips. Gray's strip was one of the great adventure strips, but appeals particularly to Reason because, "The comic’s early days hold a winningly libertarian disdain for the uplifters and professional licensing and child labor laws that stymie Annie’s attempts to support herself and others who fall under her care."
As far as I know, the Reason guys are still hanging out on Dupont Circle.

Sept 5: Peter Bagge in DC at invitation-only event
Heidi MacDonald posted an email from Peter Bagge on the Beat. The relevant part to us is:
On the following Wednesday, Sept. 5, REASON Magazine will be hosting a meet ‘n’ greet in my honor at their Washington DC offices. Blush! It’s invitation only, however, so if you’re in the DC area and are interested in attending please contact me here or at: peterbagge@earthlink.net about the details. Drinks and light snacks will be served, I’m told. Can’t beat that!
Thanks to Randy T for the tip.
