June 25: American Library Association in DC with comics programs

ALA Expands Graphic Novel Programming
At Its Summer Conference in D.C.
ICv2 06/11/2010

Some of this sounds like fun, but it'll only be open to registered attendees. However, I will be moderating a panel with some local cartoonists for the DC Public Library that weekend and will have more details as they're finalized.

I know you can buy an "exhibits only" badge for the ALA conference, but I'm guessing that does not include any of the programming.

Hmmm, that would be worth poking around to check on, don't you think?

Wow, what is this show? Is it like a Comic-Con for librarians? Looks fascinating. I noted Gene Yang, James Kochalka, Andy Runton, David Small, Tony DiTerlizzi, and Mo Willems among comics contributors (plus a good handful of writers and illustrators featured on my kids' bookshelves!). Might be worth a visit...

That's a pretty good representation! The only company that listed creators hanging out was Top Shelf, though Bill Galvin and Fred Mausser are at the Diversity Foundation booth, both of whom have done work for Archie in various capacities, Bill having done pencil work. I'd be up for taking a browse through...

Randy, what's the link you're looking at? And perhaps you should do a new post listing all of that? And did you find the exhibitor pass info?

Word is that the exhibits-only badge doesn't include the programming, as I thought, but it is only $25. Librarian friends say the exhibits/vendor floor is kind of boring overall, but you do get free stuff.
