I've supported all four issues of this, although it's now sadly dated by reality.

It's here!  The 4th and final digital issue of 1/6: The Graphic Novel is out today!

Five years ago today, an armed mob of Insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol, egged on by Donald Trump, attempting to overturn a free and fair election.  They attacked police officers (some of whom later died), hunted members of Congress, and called for the death of Vice President Mike Pence.  The attack was part of a larger unlawful effort that included intimidating election workers and officials and sending fake electors to swing states that Joe Biden won.

Since returning to power, Trump has pardoned the attackers, tried to re-write the history of January 6, and persecuted those who tried to do the right thing that day.  It's part and parcel of a larger authoritarian consolidation.

Help us keep the real meaning of 1/6 alive and sound the alarm about today's threats to our democracy:

Issue #4, subtitled "Still We Rise," follows our characters as they resist authoritarianism and debate the more perfect union that should emerge from its ashes.  It is a story of hope, as well as action, adventure, and danger—a lot like the real world today, but a lot more fun.

Thanks for your support!  Keep loving democracy and #RememberOneSix

Ephemeral artoon paper napkins preserved at Library of Virginia

Lots of gag cartoons, but a Dennis the Menace one is also pictured. I might have some Bloom County and other ones in my own collection...

A Virginia woman's epic paper napkin collection is being preserved [in print as Historic paper trail is being preserved]

One night only—January 15, 6:00–8:00 PM EST.

I'll be live online with a book discussion group about my graphic novel adaptation of Paul Auster's New York Trilogy (created with Lorenzo Mattotti and David Mazzucchelli).

The venerable Washington DC bookstore Politics and Prose is hosting the event.

You don't need to read either Auster's original or the adaptation beforehand, though I'd recommend it if you have time.

Hope you can join us!
