Live Blog 2024

I'll be here all night. Try the veal.

Nov 5

READ IN APP

Cartoon number one was sketched out yesterday at home, inked further and colored on a train.

Kids, the live blog is here. I'm posting live from Washington, DC. For those of you who are MAGAts, you know where DC is…it's where you tried to steal the last election. Tee-hee.

I'll be tracking the results live from an election watch party in the District. Please refresh this page all night long. I don't want to create new posts for every cartoon I draw and annoy you with about 15 notifications throughout the night.

Each new cartoon will be placed at the top of the blog. I'm going to post a few warm-up cartoons during the day but the real excitement will begin after 7 p.m. or so.

Do you have questions? Here are the answers to the questions I've received in the past.

What is a live blog? I'll be drawing cartoons reacting to results as they come in, in real time.
How do I keep up:
Just keep refreshing the page throughout the evening.
Is it easy to do?
Not for me, but it's easy for you to tag along and comment.
Time:
Now, but it'll the real fun will kick in after 7 p.m. or so.
Location: Washington, DC at The Bottom Line and on your computer.
Is that location subject to change? Yes, the venue may kick me out, so I'm open to suggested alternate venues.
Are you insane to do this? Obviously.
Number of posts and cartoons: I don't know but four years ago, I think it was 12.
Where you can see it: Here at my Substack. There may be updates on Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram.
Time it will be over: I don't know.
Time Clay will lose his mind: Sometime between midnight and 6:00 a.m.
Should I bother Clay by sending him emails and direct messages while he's working? No. You should not do that but some people will do it anyway. People love to send me news items AFTER I've drawn about it. The exceptions to this rule are Rene, Karen, Quannah, and Laura.
Can I comment on each post? Yes, and I changed the settings so everyone can comment on the live blog, not just my heroes who are the paid subscribers.
Can I curse? Fuck yes. All curse words are welcomed and encouraged.
Will there be sandwiches? If you are making them, yes.
When will Clay sleep? Never.
Where will the next live blog come from if Trump wins? Probably somewhere in Europe. Although if Trump wins, there probably won't be another election to do a live blog for.
Is tipping allowed for all the hard work you do? Yes, please. I'll also accept sandwiches and pizza.
What if I'm rooting for Trump? Then you got lost and you're in the wrong place. Also, seek help.

Flugennock's Latest'n'Greatest: "Garbage no.2 (...garbage out)"

"Garbage no.2 (...garbage out)"
http://sinkers.org/stage/?p=4024

So, that was the "October Surprise" this time around, huh? That was
really it? Old Uncle Joe, movin' kinda' slow, suddenly decides to pipe
up about some of Trump's throwaway trash talk and immediately shits
out a Basket Of Deplorables moment, right out on live TV in front of
god and his cat and everybody, less than a week before the "election"?
Well done. Even if MSNBC immediately changed its format to All
Abortion Rights Horror Stories All The Time, it probably still
wouldn't be enough to save the DNC's asses.

Just trying to imagine the scene around the DNC campaign offices right
now... imagining Uncle Joe, still and quiet for all these weeks — they
really thought they had him buried this time — suddenly clambering
clumsily out of the grave like Tor Johnson in Plan 9 From Outer Space
to drop a big, hot steaming Gaffe From The Beyond.

Mind you, I'm not arguing with the truth of El Presidente's blabbage
about Trump supporters being garbage, here; that's as maybe — but,
still, when you're a sitting President of the United Snakes Of Amerika
who's had to drop out of a re-election campaign after your brain fried
out on live national TV, and who's proudly facilitating and defending
the brutal, venal crimes of two of the most garbage human beings
walking the Earth at the moment, and whose actions in the past year
have at last fully revealed American/Western traditions and
institutions to be complete garbage... you might want keep a lid on
that name-calling shit.

Matt Wuerker art for Hay-Adams' Off the Record bar's coasters

Apparently I haven't been keeping the blog updated about these. Well, I'm falling behind on my collection too. Here's 3 I had to buy on eBay. I don't know if KAL or Ann Telnaes have done any recently - time to get some drinks there.

Biden vs Trump. I imagine this one has been retired.

Hakeem Jeffries

Speaker of the House (and MAGA lickspittle) Mike Johnson

PS I have extra ones of Biden and Trump (separate, not the one above) that I could be convinced to mail to a good home.

Two pieces of original art from Baltimore Comic Con

While I was throwing the comic strips newspapers from 1991 on the old barbie scanner, I did these two pieces of original art I bought from the artists at Baltimore Comic Con.

Ron Randall - Secret World of New Krypton p9 Adam Strange original art.

Adam Strange has always been a favorite of mine since I got a pile of Mystery in Space comics from my cousin Mike Violante in the early 1970s. Ron Randall's art is lovely - check out his self-published Trekker graphic novels on Kickstarter.

Brenda Starr 1997-08-03 original at by June Brigman and Roy Richardson. Richardson inked and lettered the strip - colored too, but you don't see that here.
