From Middle Grade Novel to Graphic Novel

There's more to adapting a chapter book into a graphic novel than just drawing pictures to go with the words. Adapters often bring a whole new level of nonverbal communication to the page.

SPX 2024 Lottery Is Now Open!!

Hello Everyone!

The SPX 2024 Table Lottery is now open!

Go to the this page on the web site and register for the lottery today.

Here are the key dates for the Lottery:

  • March 31 - Lottery closes at 11:59PM Eastern Time.
  • April 15 - Lottery participants contacted.

Here is some key information about the lottery:

  • We will be checking to make sure you publish comics (minicomix/comics, graphic novels, anthologies, etc., etc.), so if you're exclusively an illustrator, novelist, cosplayer or anime figure retailer (we get them) you will not be eligible for tables.

  • We will not be picking the randomized lottery winners until after all applications have been received; this means there is no benefit to applying early or late (except maybe peace of mind).

  • You can only apply for the lottery once, and multiple entries will result in you being removed from the lottery pool (unless you email us and tell us you accidentally clicked twice or something, we do have a heart!).

  • We will determine what masking requirements there will be at the show this Summer.

If you have any questions email us at exhibitor-inquiries@smallpressexpo.com.

Best of luck to everyone!

Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award editorial cartoon prize winner list

Mike Rhode

The cartoon committee met yesterday so this will be updated sometime in May. There are still a few gaps including pre-1983, and 1996. There might not have been an award for any of those years - the Best Editorial Cartoons doesn't list one for 1996.
