Is popular culture coverage endangered at WaPo?

Is popular culture coverage endangered at WaPo? A well-placed source thinks it is. As anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big fan of the coverage at the paper, especially the work of David Betancourt, Michael Cavna, and Hannah Goode. I really appreciated the recent year-long use of comic-form journalism.

If you care at all about "nerd" culture coverage in The Post — in all it's facets, sci-fi to political cartoons to webcomics to gaming — then this is a  moment to be heard. WaPo has been doubling down on political coverage for years while reducing resources devoted to the arts, laying off their dance reviewer among others. Also they haven't replaced Tom Toles with a permanent political cartoonist.
