White lived in Falls Church, and also wrote for the Falls Church News-Press. He was mostly active in science fiction, but wrote for Heavy Metal as well as the first Captain America prose novel.
Honoring Ted White
After I posted this, I received the following email that Joel gave me permission to quote here: Not only did Ted White write for Heavy Metal, he was the editor for several years, and brought American creators into its pages.
Ted was a very early comics fan at a time when science fiction fandom shunned comics.
He was one of the top EC comics fans, along with the recently departed Larry Stark, long-departed Bhob Stewart, and still-with-us Fred von Bernewitz (who grew up in Silver Spring and graduated from Montgomery Blair HS).
