That darn Mark Trail

This shall not stand [Mark Trail letter]

Shirin Ikram, Potomac

Washington Post May 10 2025: A15.

The April 20 "Mark Trail" made a pitch for replanting native trees in New York.

I would support implementing this idea in the D.C. area, which had a large number of native trees and plants when I first came here 40 years ago. They have since been increasingly replaced by bamboo.

Though the National Zoo might be interested in this abundance of bamboo for its panda guests, neither the birds nor the bees native to this area see any added benefit.

It is unfortunate that bamboo cannot be forbidden by executive orders!
