The Black Comic Lords interview creators from Afrofutures. ABOUT AFROFUTURES: Over the last few years, there have been plenty of conversations about securing Black representation for upcoming generations. AFROFUTURES magazine is the climax we've been simultaneously organizing towards. It's about what comes next. Curated by producer-writer Troy-Jeffrey Allen (ALL CAPS: An MF DOM Tribute, O.D.B.: Lyrical Ruckus in the City, Chuck D. presents Apocalypse 9'1: Revolution Never Sleeps), AFROFUTURES is a collection of comics and articles meant to control the narrative regarding Black futures. Everything inside falls under or relates to the wide umbrella of "Black speculative fiction" - ranging from sci-fi and fantasy to action, drama, and beyond. The magazine's core purpose is to defy existing barriers and restraints put on Black creatives. This is why a 17+ age restriction is key. We invite the best creators to run free with their biggest and boldest ideas. Inspiring Black readers to rethink our current selves, to reimagine our past selves, and then get motivated to relaunch what a Black future looks like.
