Shawn Martinbrough: Telling a Story
A discussion on how to create a story starting from words to art. Shawn Martinbrough is the author of How to Draw Noir Comics: The Art and Technique of Visual Storytelling, published by PenguinRandom House. He is a creator/artist whose DC Comics, Marvel and Dark Horse Comics projects include Batman: Detective Comics, DMZ, Luke Cage Noir, The Black Panther and Hellboy. Shawn is also the artist of Thief of Thieves by Robert Kirkman, the co-creator of The Walking Dead and INVINCIBLE. Shawn co-created characters featured in the films, Zack Snyder's Justice League, Deadpool, the animated Batman: Gotham Knights and the television series GOTHAM, The GIFTED and BATWOMAN. Shawn is the artist of Prométhée 13:13, presented by ComiXology and French publisher Delcourt- Soleil and a featured contributor to Vanity Fair's The Great Fire issue guest edited by renowned journalist and writer, Ta-Nehisi Coates. Shawn is the writer of Red Hood for DC Comics. His two part story revisits the neighborhood of The Hill and introduces new characters to the Batman/Gotham Universe. Shawn is currently writing and illustrating his first creator owned graphic novel for the new Abrams Books imprint Megascope, founded by New York Times bestselling author John Jennings. The noir, jazz themed thriller is set in contemporary New York and Paris. Shawn is also the artist of Like Lava in My Veins, a children's book written by multi-award winning and New York Times best-selling author Derrick D. Barnes and with publisher Nancy Paulsen Books/Penguin.
