The Underwater Welder SC

by Jeff Lemire

The graphic novel that Jeff Lemire has been working on for 5 years is finally out! Jack works welding oil rigs while waiting for his wife to give birth, but worries he is turning into his father, who died at this time of year, leaving Jack alone with his mother. Then Jack thinks he sees something at the bottom of the rig and is hospitalized. Is he going crazy or is he about to discover something he's always been looking for? An amazing tale of families, responsibility, and strange connection, all tied together by Lemire's great pacing and juxtaposition of his art. A superb book! Buy it!

Axe Cop: President of the Earth #1 (of 3)

by Malachai Nicolle and Ethan Nicolle

Axe Cop is back! Now as President of the whole planet, he gets God to protect Earth from bad guys for a million years, but then they will all return! Time to cut off some heads! Plus the plight of Goo Cop whose family was kidnapped by evil aliens! More action insanity and hilarity from young writer Malachai (now age 8)!

Debris #1 (of 4)

by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Riley Rossmo

In a dark future, a young warrior named Maya must attempt to find a new source of water for the last of humanity. Too bad the world is full of monstrous Colossals that will kill any human they see! Action-packed, with great and brightly colored art by Rossmo.

Scalped 9: Knuckle Up SC

by Jason Aaron and R. M. Guera

The penultimate Scalped book brings a series of painful confrontations as Dashiel Bad Horse makes a dangerous choice about how far he's going in his quest to bring justice to the reservation, and crime boss Red Crow begins to lose control of everything.

Daredevil 1 SC

by Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin

We've been telling you how great the new Daredevil series is, and now it has won an Eisner Award and is finally out in softcover! This new direction under Waid has Daredevil trying to be more carefree and adventuresome despite all the tragedy in his life, and the art by Rivera and Martin is nothing short of astounding, with whole scenes made up of the echoes of what Daredevil can "see" and other superbly creative layouts and art. Soooo good! Get it now!

National Comics: Eternity #1

by Jeff Lemire and Cully Hamner

Double Lemire week! This new series is one-shots updating old characters, this one is an amazing Kid Eternity story, where he must use his power to bring souls back from the dead for 24 hours to try to solve a man's murder! A great premise and story, with enough exciting twists and questions at the end to start up a whole new series! Hopefully we will get more, but a great one shot too!

MAD Presents Batman SC

by the Usual Gang of Idiots

Just in time for the new movie, MAD brings all their Batman parody comics into a single giant issue, plus a new look at the Dark Knight Rises by Sergio Aragones! Yep, the Michael Keaton and Adam West ones are in here too!

The Hammer and the Anvil HC

by Dwight Jon Zimmerman and Wayne Vansant

A history of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, and how their lives intertwined to bring about the end of slavery in the United States! Very well researched, this book goes back and forth between the men, comparing and contrasting their lives until they finally meet, and doing a good job of bringing history to life.
