Matt (the man in the purple suit at SPX) has a new book on the history of Heavy Metal magazine coming out next year (probably - it's in production). In the meantime, he sent me the following note asking for announcing and asking for participants on his site.

There's an interactive part of the website. I'm asking people to contribute their memories of how and when they first encountered Heavy Metal. I would love to get testimonials from the people on this mailing list.
