A little bit silly and a little bit spooky, the classic Bailey School Kids series is getting a grahic novel refresh! Join us at the City of Fairfax Regional Library as we help co-host kid's book illustrator Angeli Rafer! Books will be available to purchase on-site at the event, and Ms. Rafer will be signing copies after her presentation. Best for ages 6-12.
Graphic Novelist Angeli Rafer has done the illustrations for the most recent two titles of the Bailey School Kids series: Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips (Eddie and Howie go to visit Eddie's great-aunt Mathilda. But when Howie sees a shadowy face in the window -- and when his potato chips start to form mysterious trails -- the Bailey School kids are spooked. Could a ghost be living in the attic?) and Dragons Don't Cook Pizza (When the Bailey School Kids visit Jewel's Pizza Castle, they think they're in for just a regular pizza party, despite the fun medieval decor. But when they see smoke and hear roars coming from the kitchen, they wonder what's going on. Could Sir George be keeping a dragon there?).
Meet Angeli and hear all about what life is like as a working artist and illustrator. Try your hand at making a graphic novel. Refreshments will be provided - chips and pizza, of course!
