About the Book:

As Mateo, an undocumented teen, crosses the US/Mexican border to return to the Arizona town where he grew up, he must learn patience and empathy to make the journey safely.  Helped by the ghost of a long-ago immigrant and lonely Jaguar, Mateo then in turn helps other people make the dangerous journey, surviving border patrol roundups, racist militias, and scorching desert terrain.  An inspiring tale about community and mutual reliance, this young adult graphic novel is a riveting and timely story.
