And now for something completely different- Pocket Cartoon Course!

I bought this a few years ago to add to my collection of stamps and comics - it fits if you squish it. And this has nothing to do with comics and DC, except for being located somewhere in my house.

  1. This is excellent! I only wish I'd seen it years ago, it would've done me some good. Did you see the World War II-era U.S. military-issued guide to cartooning that Mike Lynch put up on his blog a few weeks back? It makes the perfect complement to this.

  2. Yes, I did - that's one reason why I dug out these scans and put them up. Another was taking a tour of Warren B's excellent book collection and seeing all the 'how-to' books he had.
    The Lynch link is http://mikelynchcartoons.blogspot.com/2007/01/handicraft-guide-no-9-cartooning-part-2.html
Asifa has some similar ones up - http://www.animationarchive.org/2007/02/history-disneys-artist-tryout-book.html

The best part of this are the instructions on how to draw women...you gotta make sure they aren't ugly! The big "X" across the face of the old lady is too much.
